In September 2022, David stepped into the operator role with a wealth of sober living experience. David has been through 12 sober living homes himself and worked as a sober living house manager for 1 ½ years prior to becoming the Rediscovery Home operator.

This home is named to commemorate Dr. Roland V. Stoodley, a long-time Claremont resident, founder of River Valley Community College, and dedicated supporter of our mission and cause. Dr. Stoodley is also the grandfather of the founder of New Beginning Recovery. When we spoke, New Beginning Recovery’s new facility in Southbridge was in the process of being set up, and completely renovated. He relishes talking about the endeavors his company is undertaking to help men and women try to shed the ruinous effects of alcohol and drugs.
History of Vanderburgh Sober Living
Sober homes offer an opportunity for men and women in recovery to live together and support each other while pursuing a new life in recovery. I believe that having experience as a judicial officer for the last five years makes me the most appropriate and most qualified person for this position. My experience is in promoting equal access to justice and making sure that equal justice actually occurs in our courts. I believe our court system should remain independent of politics. Recovery housing residents in Springfield enjoy a comfortable home with ample privacy as well as spacious common areas. There is a large parking area behind the building, as well as an expansive side yard available for activities and enjoyment.

VSL Chartered Operators offer structured sober living for men and women where every guest is supported in their recovery journeys. Guests live together as a family to develop the tools and strengthen their character in order to live free from substance abuse. VSL homes allow for independence while guided by a set of recovery-focused house rules, standards, and expectations. Guests are engaged in their personal recovery journey by attending meetings and working with a sponsor and a House Mentor for support and encouragement. Guests adhere to a curfew, submit to drug and alcohol screenings, and participate in home and community events.
Applicants must be over 18 years old and haven’t used drugs or alcohol within 14 days. Guests are ofter referred from treatment or other clinical or judicial settings, but many guests self-refer to our homes. We are New England’s premier sober living provider, with homes across Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Maine. A $200 deposit is due when moving in, additional to your first week payment.
